LIST OF RECOMMENDED ARTIFACTS FOR A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT PORTFOLIO

• professional-looking video introduction of yourself that reveals your interests, style, and personality

• resume outlining your contact information, coursework, part time jobs, volunteer jobs, extra-curricular clubs and organizations, academic awards, and references. Also see Resume Workshop

• two page (500 word) statement of personal goals in MLA format

• current official high school transcript listing all courses and grades

• a hypothetical transcript showing projected courses over time

• awards, recognitions, or other evidence of your achievements

• internship and/or volunteer activity log including daily activities, challenges, strengths, and other learning experiences for each volunteer experience relevant in some way to STEM

• cover letters and other professional correspondence

• recommendation letters from school personnel, community businesses, and other professionals

• internship performance appraisals (or other performance indicators) from appropriate volunteer experiences relevant to STEM

• research presentations that reveal your research in a STEM field of interest as well as your technical skills

• essays from any subject area that demonstrate your facility with language

• lab reports and/or other science projects or experiments

• employer profiles for 2-3 top companies in your STEM field

• job descriptions for 2-3 positions that would suit your interests
